Autumn Tailoring Fabrics - Dugdale Bros & Loro Piana
Which fabric should you be selecting for your new suit this Autumn & Winter?
Our Pic of the bunches with fabrics from Loro Piana and Dugdale Brothers
The weather changes almost daily here in Birmingham. Rain one hour and glorious sunshine the next. Whilst the transition in weather may prove challenging it also reminds us that one of the most exciting times of year lies ahead.
Autumn is upon us and I'm damn excited. The coats, the flannel suits, the layering of knitwear, the scarves, the jackets.....I could go on.
Autumn provides the perfect sartorial backdrop and it's worth looking ahead to some of the perfect fabrics for the season.
DUGDALE BROTHERS - English and Town Classics
My first ever suits both came from this bunch. A navy hopsack and a grey twill, and both are still worn today. It remains a personal favourite.
This bunch has been produced for over 50 years, and with good reason. It remains one of our most popular fabric bunches, combining durability with style.
The English Classics part of the bunch features 13/14oz fine worsted fabrics, which due to the slight re-working of the finishing routines has allowed Dugdales to produce a smoother handle to the cloth, without compromising its fullness.
Town classics features a full milled version of the above affording warmth and density. You can find an article on our blog featuring a fabric from this bunch here:
Prices for this bunch start at £799 for a 2 piece suit. It's the kind of cloth that if you ordered 2 pairs of trousers, it could last a lifetime.
LORO PIANA - Jackets and Trousers (Dream Tweed)
The jacket section of the bunch has 12-13oz super 120's featuring herringbones, twills and houndstooth designs. It is a mid weight fabric, but still soft to the touch with a slight nap. It is made from multi-colour 4-ply yarn in superfine wools, making it the ideal fabric for jacketing.
The light brown twill ref 627025 is highly recommended, for its ability to dress up and down. Being equally as comfortable with grey flannnel trousers, as it is with dark denim jeans.
This bunch also features a selection of 8-13oz trouser fabrics. Cotton, cotton/cashmere blends, and super 130's wools come in plains, twills, and corduroys and offer an excellent companion to the dream tweed jackets.
Jackets from £999 and Trousers from £549
